Cast out and abandoned
I was closed, cold as a stone.
Then you came along
and like a child fingering a pebble
you put me in your hands.
Slowly you pulled and peeled
away the hard exterior.
Exposing the soft tissues of my heart,
opening me up to your sunshine,
Giving me the life I needed.
And as you set me down
and watched me take root.
You stayed and nurtured me
through the storms in life.
So whenever I’m lost I
simply look for the light
that shines from your house.
